Hairdressing Work Placement

Emily Playford is thrilled to be working full time as a hairdresser at Silver Scissors - the very salon she did her work placement while studying UCOL’s Hairdressing programme.

Emily started her placement in July, along with her classmate Georgia Lockley. When November came, Silver Scissors chose to take them both on as full time staff members. 

Sophie Hopkins, Silver Scissors’ owner, said although it was a big move, she was thrilled to take on both UCOL students. Emily and Georgia were both very outgoing, and passionate about hairdressing.

“It’s been so cool to be working in an actual salon with proper clients. It has taught me how to be professional and has helped me grow my skills,” says Emily
