Placement at The Coffee Club

While studying cookery at UCOL, Mia Lam was encouraged by her lecturers to get work experience. Put on placement at The Coffee Club in Palmerston North, Mia is now employed by them and is sharing her knowledge and skills.

“I moved to New Zealand from Vietnam and had never worked in this industry before. However, I am loving it and have gained so much experience - I’m now able to give back to the community.”

Since October 2019, Mia has moved into a higher role and is now working as Chef de Partie, meaning she is in charge of a section in the kitchen.
