Tedy John started his 15 week internship with Toyota New Zealand in July 2020, as part of his Graduate Diploma in Business Information Systems. “My task was to discover the internal processes of the Business Analysis department, document the best-practice processes, activities and procedures, and map them in Promapp software,” explains Tedy.

Tedy says that communication was an important part of his role as he interviewed each Business Analyst to gather the correct information. He shadowed business analysts in their meetings, workshops, and discussions with stakeholders and learnt from them before going off on his own and completing the project.

During the COVID lockdown period Tedy lost almost 6 weeks of his internship, but he was determined to complete the project. Tedy decided to make up for lost time during his September study break. “I just wanted to get the work done, so I went back and worked three days a week during my holiday.”

Paul Tayler, Associate Manager of the Business Analysis team, gave great feedback and was very impressed with Tedy’s work.

Tedy says he has formed a great relationship with Toyota. “I am from a different country and culture, however the team at Toyota have made me feel at home and fully supported me throughout my time there. This has been a wonderful experience and I am glad I have been able to create something of value for Toyota New Zealand.”
