Street Art Papaioea
Industry partnerships: Festival and UCOL to make large wall murals.
Throughout the Street Prints Papaioea Street Art Festival, the Pushing Arts in New Zealand Trust (PAINT) and PNCC collaborated with the UCOL creative team to organise and create incredible murals around the city. The festival was guided by the Rangitāne Whakatauki Kua Kākahutia te Rangimarie / Under the cloak of peace. UCOL Te Pūkenga was able to select four of their buildings’ walls to receive the murals. The UCOL's contribution to the festival came in the form of a contribution of funds, hands-on engagement and having trained three of the artists in the festival.
International artists, as well as our own graduates, Gembol, Heneriata Te Whata, and Swiftmantis, created these two stunning images to the right. We are proud to say Gembol’s image is directly across the road from the UCOL Creative block, where students can be inspired.
PNCC and the Palmerston North arts sector continue to develop projects our students can be involved in at various scales and with different growth opportunities. This work also supports our graduates with employment while giving them real ways to contribute to the city's look and feel.
